Clonmellon Tidy Town
"We have entered our village into the Tidy Towns Competition for the first time since 2009, This is a competition that should inspire our community to pull together and for all to play their part in getting our village ready for judging day. Being a volunteer allows individuals to practice their passion for the good of their community. This could be landscaping, built environment, sustainable living, local wildlife or organizing a litter pick up. We have a lot of work to do and some of the projects we want to undertake will require some time to complete. We are confident that we can meet these challenges as a group and as a community."
We have plans to do the following
- Tidy up all plant / flower arrangements
- Introduce new bedding / plant arrangements
- Have 2 new welcome signs made
- Have a pollinator garden (up at the industrial estate)
- Have Clean Up weekends / weekdays
- Build a new feature at the entrance to the village from the Kells road.
- Have a community garden
Please Clean Up After Your Dog
Clonmellon has recently been entered into the all Ireland Tidy Towns Competition.
There has been quite a lot of dog fouling on footpaths along the main street and also within the estates.
Anybody walking their dog is asked to please carry a bag and clean up after your pooch if he or she does their business while out walking.
Under Section 22 of the Litter Pollution Act 1997 it is an offence to allow a dog under your control to foul a public place. This means the owner or person in charge of the dog is required to remove dog faeces and dispose of them in a suitable, sanitary manner.
