Hi there,
My great-grandfather was James Melligan who was born in Gahanstown, Clonmellon, in 1845. He married Elizabeth White (1855) in 1872 in Clonmellon.
My grandfather was Thomas Melligan who was born in Kilrush, Clonmellon, in 1882. Thomas married Elizabeth Smeltzer (1887) in Dublin in 1908.
Johnny Melligan, my grandfather's brother, lived in Slate Cabin Row until his death in 1969. All the cottages in Slate Cabin Row were demolished in 2017.
I know that there are still relatives of one kind or another living in the Clonmellon area, so I'd be interested to hear from anyone who might be able to connect me with Melligans I've never known, or who might be able to pass on any Melligan information which might enlighten the darkness I perceive when I try to think of my Melligan ancestors.
